8.5 months

8.5 month bump
Well, here I am, 8 and a half months pregnant. So many trips and photos and projects and edible things happened over the past 8.5 months but I haven't gotten around to recording them here yet... Anon, anon.

Breeze

We've had plenty of visitors lately, providing us with ample excuse to walk the city and to visit the The High Line - the best place in the city to catch a breeze and a few snaps in this interminable heat! From the Highline, on a breezy cool evening Skytower Shadowtower

#FEBphotoaday

I came across the February photo-a-day challenge on Fat Mum Slim... it's just what I need! Today's assignment: your view today. Nice and easy!
My view today.. #FEBphotoaday
The photo captures my computer (my view everyday), a pleasingly (or challengingly) full fruit bowl, and my Elizabeth Zimmermann "Knitting Without Tears" book. I have been attempting to knit a Seamless Hybrid sweater for Simon for about 4 months now, and cannot vouch for the "without tears" part. I don't have particularly extensive knitting experience but it is definitely the hardest thing I've tried so far, with a whole lot of frogging going on. Hopefully I will write a post all about it when I'm finished. If that ever happens!

little red

Dwarfed
Big brother
Yesterday in -8 (celcius), I ventured out to try and make some use of my wide-angle lens. I only snapped a few pictures before my hands went numb! The angle of these shots makes my neck feel a little sore!

Sometimes I feel like my life is lived in time lapse, with anything between and week and 3 months between snapshots.

thirteen | jars

I have a *thing* for jars. I can't throw one out. It must be washed and placed on the window sill to gather dust until its as-yet-to-be-determined use is determined. I blame my mum... I always remember the cupboards in our back room being full of jars of all shapes and sizes. It is an environmentally friendly habit though, and they do come in useful...
Tellicherries and garlic
Needles and hooks
And the King of jars? These babies, which arrived in the post the other day.
Pretty babies, all lined up
Storage bliss
I'm in love!
Perfect!

More macro fun...I'm still getting used to the lens and having a bit of trouble getting the pics to come out exactly as I want, but a lovely new tripod arrived in the post on Friday so that's helping. I call this game "I like it. What is it?" after a very cool poster I spotted on wisecraft the other day...

Whatever it is, it's dusty!

Every day I promise myself I'll make more time to blog, but every day time seems to vanish... and especially today - the hour went back but I didn't realise until 10pm. Now I really feel like I've lost an hour!

My first snowflake, taken in Snowbird, Utah, with my shiny new macro lens. Very happy, even though the lack of a tripod meant the shot isn't crystal clear. Oh, the fun I'll have with this lens!
First snowflake! Taken with my shiny new macro lens (AF Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR). Was very disappointed with myself for not having brought a tripod... Hands were too shaky, even with the VR.

five

Another week just disappeared into the ether. It felt like the longest week, though there was little time for anything other than work. Progress on all my resolutions has been slow, but I did go for a 9-mile run today, which felt great. Now if I could only drag myself out of bed early enough to go during the week too! And though I haven't been taking many photographs, I'm convinced that I can eventually develop a habit, I just need a little more practice.
